The Iconic Puzzle Game Didn't Succeed at This Gaming Ceremony — Another Award Type May Address This Issue

Each time a major awards ceremony nears, one notices a demand for the addition fresh award types to recognize overlooked contributions and fill the spirits of followers with niche passions.

A fellow writer previously argued supporting a scary games classification. It would be amazing. So would tabletop games, this being a passionate advocate's mission. But they will have to forgive me if I try to elbow in front because like all dedicated enthusiasts, I have a cast-iron argument supporting my request remains most pressing above others. Here's the proposal: It's essential to create an award type for logic-based games.

Organizing Gaming Categories

Categorizing art by genre is not a science; it remains highly personal, and typically generate discussions and end in fuzzy definitions. It's understandable that cinema institutions steer clear of genre categories. But it is an essential concession within the realm of gaming, that demonstrate such variety they hardly constitute a single creative category.

For comprehensive acknowledgment of interactive entertainment excellence to be recognized, while allowing diverse titles to compete fairly, classification by type becomes crucial.

Present Award Structure

Prominent interactive entertainment events currently feature award types recognizing Action, Adventure-action titles, RPG experiences, Combat games, Simulation and strategy titles, and Sports/Racing games. Between them, these six categories successfully include many game types, and you can find room accommodating various experiences.

This doesn't apply to logic-based experiences. There’s simply nowhere to accommodate them. Examine these examples from outstanding current releases, each quite distinct: the architectural riddles in a particular game, intense tile-matching of another game, engaging interpersonal challenges of a third title. Where could they possibly go within current classifications? Nowhere, that’s where.

Acknowledgment Issues

Many instances occur outstanding logic titles launched regularly that have no home during gaming ceremonies, except when they manage to fit classification types such as Mobile Game, VR/AR Game, and the highly challenging independent game categories.

  • One classic puzzle game received no recognition in any category during that awards season
  • A different innovative game missed out that year
  • A beloved organization game received no acknowledgment in 2021
  • Just some brain-teasers scraped into small studio or handheld classifications

Importance of Logic Titles

These are often small games, however the design in brain-teasers carries substantial weight. Famous handheld logic titles rank among most engaged experiences globally maintaining this status for many years.

The famous puzzle experience challenges well-known building titles competing to become highest-selling title ever; it also contends as greatest title ever. Puzzle games are foundational to the art of video games, and they are in conversation with almost every other genre.

Recommendation and Reasoning

Brain-teasers wouldn't encounter that issue. You could fill a field of five engaging, different, qualified experiences annually without trouble — or rather, with difficulty, because you’d have to leave numerous deserving experiences.

To emphasize again, these include experiences that otherwise have no home at major gaming awards. Logic title developers function at the challenging frontier interactive creation, developing some of the purest expressions within interactive entertainment. Just like movie stunt professionals, they warrant appreciation. We shouldn't delay decades.
